SAAHJ Scholarship & Awards Gala 2015

The San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists will host its 17th annual gala starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2015, at the Marriott Rivercenter downtown. 

This year, SAAHJ will honor Michael Quintanilla of the San Antonio Express-News for excellence in journalism, Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), the national non-profit civil rights organization formed in 1968 in San Antonio to protect the rights of Latinos with our community service award, and Grammy award winner Vikki Carr for her extensive contributions to the Hispanic community, among other outstanding personalities with the second-ever Corazón de Oro award.

The event is not only a fun, celebrity-studded event that brings out major community leaders, it's for a very good cause: our young people. Last year, SAAHJ awarded a dozen scholarships to promising students with a total distribution of $30,000, thanks to funds raised at the gala. This year we will award $40,000 - the most we have ever in a single year!
